Karl Lagerfeld Shoots Abbey Lee Kershaw For Chanel Fall 2010 (Preview)

At the end of April, on my birthday in fact, AMK had a bit of a meltdown on Broadway on her way to come hang. It seems she pretty much bumped into Karl Lagerfeld himself on special assignment for Chanel’s fall campaign. Nothing like some gritty shit off the streets of New York. As soon as we get our hands on the full set of photos they'll be up.

*Air Drake*

I'm a little late but if this isn't some illrapper shit I don't know what is. This is just utterly ridiculous. This time last year, well, he was pretty hot, but a little bit before that, just a little bit before that, Drake as a rapper was completely obscure. Now there's a 747 with his face on it. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sir Richard Branson took the first International Canadian flight out for Virgin and picked up the rapper along the way. Upon touchdown in Toronto, the Airbus A320 aircraft nicknamed "Air Drake," made a splashy entrance into Canada with a water cannon salute, an international welcoming committee and a red carpet party on the arrival tarmac. Welcome to doing it big in 2010. Congrats is in order for real.

Transparent DSRL Camera Bag

This is serious if you know what you're doing out there. Kinda solves a lot of the problems you come across when shooting in the rain, in a very simple way. I just wonder how transparent the front of the bag really is. Also, is it like crazy water-proof completely? Is so, it's a great buy.

Mont Blanc Autumn 2010 Preview

A couple of pretty ill pieces from the giant that is Mont Blanc. If you know me you know how picky I am with accessories and big time pieces but these are very nicely done. Especially feeling the black with the sort-of army face. NYC photographer, Jacob Breinholt, made his way over the to the Mont Blanc preview show and got a bunch of different looks. Go here.

*New Video* Rick Ross - Fire Hazard

Ok this here is turning into a muhhfuckin' fansite now. How much Rick Ross shit can I post in a day? As much as Rozay decides to drop, bitch. The rapper is the best. Don't even ask me why. And SpliffTV came a long way lemme tell you, the video kills.

*New Music* Ne-Yo feat. Rick Ross "Champagne Life"

Rozay puts another pretty flawless verse on a remix to the kids mediocre track and just like that, it's listenable! Haha I kid I kid sort of. I did just listen to the end though so whatever that tells you.

Listen/Download Champagne Life - Ne-Yo feat. Rick Ross

*link jacked from NR cause why not, also so there's no confusion, that's not Ne-Yo up there I just like the pic

Louis C.K.’s New Standup Routine

This guy is funny as shit haha. Have yourself a great 8 minutes baby.

"LIGHTTIME" by Gogy Esparza

Always nice to see somebody do their thing and watch the world catch on. A friend of a couple of my friends, Gogy Esparza, has landed himself in The New York Times as well popular website Hypebeast. The downtown barber extraordinaire and moonlighting photographer has arrived in style through his first self-published book, Lighttime. Funny story, but AMK actually bought this book for me a couple months ago for my birthday. It really is an interesting and artsy little thing, capturing the slow and faster days of an innocent youth. I chose a couple of my favorite exceprts up top but check out the full thing online here, and purchase your own copy here.

*New Music* Super High (Sativa Remix) Rick Ross x Curren$y x Wiz Khalifa

Yo this shit sounds so natural you gotta wonder if Rozay had this planned from th muuhhfuckin' get. These guys are ridiculous hahahaha. I swear I just happened to be up around 4:20am when they dropped this of course. Ross fucking kills this shit but don't get shit twisted at all, Curren$y and Wiz really do their thing. I love the love surrounding this whole session. Them niggas been tweeting pictures like the one up top all day. Super high shit. Sorry mama.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011 Detailed Bag (Preview)

I've been wanting to post these up for a couple days now. Really happy to see some fresh new design from the top dog brand. The colors and textures going on here just kill, that's it, they kill. As classic and as rich as the monogram has become, to see it reworked here in a vintage and worn fabric is pretty exciting.

*New Music* National Anthem (Fuck The World) - Freddie Gibbs

That's Freddie Muuhhfuckin' Gibbs baby. Kid goes extra hard on this. I've come to expect nothing less.

Listen/Download National Anthem (Fuck The World) - Freddie Gibbs

Here's the press release going on of the new situation and album dates and such.
FREDDIE GIBBS TO RELEASE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED STR8 KILLA EP ON DECON AUGUST 3rd 2010

XXL MAGAZINE TO DIGITALLY RELEASE ACCOMPANYING MIXTAPE STR8 KILLA NO FILLA ON JULY 29th 2010

Gary, Indiana’s finest, Freddie Gibbs, has partnered with Decon to release his first official release, Str8 Killa EP, August 3rd, further inciting the raucous clamor surrounding the third coast’s most promising MC.

Hailing from a disheveled corner of the midwest, Freddie’s music is a play-by-play of block politics. The video for “The Ghetto” illustrates his existence succinctly. Gibbs speaks on behalf of a silent minority, describing a crumbling metropolis on which socio-political concern has turned a blind eye. The trap was set, but Freddie emerged. By partnering with New York taste-making label Decon, Gibbs finds himself at the crucial apex of his career.

Freddie let loose last year with two independent mixtapes, The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs and the notable midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, the epic tome of street truths that put him on the cover of XXL’s Freshman Top 10 issue as well as the collective rap-consciousness. He then won over notoriously fickle audiences at SXSW, a critical bridge few rappers have crossed, and this is just the beginning. We’ve seen the jab and the Str8 Killa EP is the right hook that will solidify Gibbs as one of the most talented MCs recording today.

To coincide with the EP release and continue his reign as the midwest’s mixtape king, Freddie will be releasing a free mixtape version of the project titled Str8 Killa No Filla on July 29th with XXLMag.com. The mixtape will serve as a highlight of the EP, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the official release. The EP will feature two exclusive tracks that do not appear on the mixtape.

Vans Sk8 Hi “Medallion” Fall 2010

Some joints are special and you know right away. These are pretty ridiculous, Japan exclusive Vans Sk8 Hi’s. Wingtip accents, gold prints on the tongue, I mean. Just a great contrast to what you see these kids on the streets wearing on any given day.

There's an all black everything pair too, learn Japanese and cop here.

Just Me And My Bitch

Either we talking summer crib or Ricky Rozay just tweeted it up.

Pharrell Talks Kidult.com

I'm actually really interested in what Pharrell is doing as of late. I'm not gonna lie though, I'm still not sure if what they hope to accomplish can actually happen. I understand the demographic they're looking to target, and  the importance of having a safe site online where kids can get their news, but I just don't a 14 year old knowing of kidult.com enough to be attracted to it over other sites that have been around much longer. Am I making any sense? What are the steps Pharrell and Co. are taking to ensure such high-visibility amongst the billions of sites and blogs out there already? I haven't seen any high-way ads, TV spots, big-name collaborations etc. I think if you're really going to make a change, nowadays, much like back in the days, it's all about what corner you're standing on.

*New Music* G-Unit "Where The Dope At"

50 and the boys are back and it's pretty disappointing to me that they're on the same ole' shoot em up bullshit they've always been on. I understand that the nigga think it's some kind of achievement to have been this rich, this long and not changed but it's getting a little bit ridiculous now. This shit sounds like 2003. Still, every time I've heard it in the car since Flex dropped bombs on it a few nights ago I can't help but put it up haha. Kinda doesn't make sense right? I know.

T.I. Talks "King Uncaged" To MTV

We support the nigga T.I. over here. Great rapper and smart guy. Recording 85-90 songs for an album sounds ridiculous to me but everyone works different haha. New album, King Uncaged drops August 17th.

American Apparel At The Crack Of Downfall

I recently read a couple of published reports saying that American Apparel is not doing so hot business-wise. Weird, things are looking fine from back here.

"The company, known for its signature T-shirts, sexualized ads and controversial chief executive, recently reported that its quarterly operating loss had more than quadrupled from a year earlier, and warned that it risks defaulting on a credit agreement. The news sent its stock price, already trading in the low single digits, tumbling."

Picture found at The Life Files but if you ask me, I think it works better on some ill rapper shit.

Garbstore x G-SHOCK GA-100 Watch (Preview)

I've been going back and forth lately about wanting one of these. I was talking to my homeboy Dasm about it actually. If I did get one it'd be a black joint. Casio teams up with British label, Garbstore on this one, and I think I'm finally sold. Released sometime early next year.

*BET Award Performances*

I gotta just say off the bat I was dissapointed as fuck with this performance up top. Rushing to my homegirl's big TV in New Jersey to see the man open the show with one of my favorite records out very quickly lost all of it's luster and had me sitting there in embarrassment. That is all. All of last night's performances courtesy of the man they call Yardie here.

I mean seriously, what the fuck is this about?

The Man From Florence, Stolen From The Sartorialist

This is incredible, real style.  From what looks like Dickie shorts, to the leather shoes, the button-down, that belt my man so illy tucked his blazer into. It's perfect. Applaud Scott for catching this. I truly believe my man from Florence just started something with this one.

Stolen from The Sartorialist

America Nu Magazine Issue #1 (Creative Control Preview)

The big dog Dame Dizzel showcases some of his brand icons getting ready to relaunch his America Nu magazine. It's funny, the first time I never met Dame he was high and feeling good talking about how excited he was to get the first issue cracking. Smoking that fruition, baby.

*New Music* Dipset (Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz) - Salute

Guess who's bizzack. After a couple months of reconciled love following a couple years of no-homo beef, the mothafuckin' boys are back in town. Jimmy actually has the best verse on this and as excited I was to hear Killa back at it, I was kinda disappointed in the flow. The "ATM, ass-to-mouth" line was pretty good though haha. The beat is huge by the way, courtesy of AraabMuzik. That baseline comes in like a pretty bitch on you. Let's see what happens from here.

Listen/Download Salute - Dipset (Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana)

*On a sidenote, it's funny to me how niggas in the blog game on Twitter are talking about how they like this "no radio-rip, not leaked, straight CDQ" thing that happened tonight with the new Dipset record. That's fucking hilarious to me. I don't know how it happened but there wasn't no bullshit that came before hearing this new song in full but hey, that's the way it fucking should be. Leaking incomplete joints knowing damn well the artist is trying to drop it properly is for the birds. Here's to a new day.

The Roots & John Legend - Levi's® Pioneer Sessions

I'm starting to really enjoy these Pioneer Sessions man. They're done in such a classic fashion. Really dope. The whole premise is that "Levi's invited today's musical pioneers to recreate the music that inspired them". Gotta love it.

Scott Campbell x Louis Vuitton Collection Preview

Been waiting for some hi-res pics of these to drop and Hypebeast comes through. Marc Jacobs's own personal tattoo artist Scott Campbell designed a new line of Louis Vuitton bags set to be released in Spring/Summer 2011. The detailing of Scott's intricate artwork is pretty remarkable and although I'm not so into the design per say, I love the fact that at this stage in the game artists can collaborate on such a huge international scale.

Introducing Yummybooks's Blog

One of the most disgusting and coolest girls I know started a cute blog a little bit ago and I feel like chiks all over should be put on to what she's doing here. James and The Giant Peach Bourbon Peach Hand-Pies, The Corrections Chocolate Cupcakes with Peppermint Buttercream Frosting, Homer Price Chocolate Glazed Heath Bar Doughnuts? I can't, I just can't right now haha. Too ill. The clincher here is she's setting out to make the scrumptious food and desserts described in some of here favorite classic novels. The idea is a killer and being a talented writer herself, the descriptions and attention to detail is really just perfect. Stay home from the club tonight, wake up early tomorrow and cook your way into somebody's heart. Thanks Car.

*Rick Ross - Teflon Don (Tracklisting)*

Mothafuckin Rozay and one of the illest tracklistings I've seen in a while. Free Mason feat. Jay-Z?? Live Fast, Die Young feat. Kanye West??! Ridiculous. There's nothing really more to say.

1. I’m Not A Star (Produced By J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
2. Free Mason (Feat. Jay-Z) (Produced By The Inkredibles)
3. Tears Of Joy (Feat. Cee-Lo)
4. Maybach Music III (Feat. T.I., Jadakiss & Erykah Badu) (Produced By J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
5. Live Fast, Die Young (Feat. Kanye West)
6. Super High (Feat. Ne-Yo) Clark Kent & The Remedy)
7. No. 1 (Feat. Trey Songz & Diddy)
8. MC Hammer (Feat. Gucci Mane) (Produced By Lex Luger)
9. B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast) (Feat. Styles P) (Produced By Lex Luger)
10. Aston Martin Music (Feat. Drake & Chrisette Michele) (Produced By J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
11. All The Money In The World (Feat. Raphael Saadiq) (Produced By The Olympicks)

*Couple other little tidbits. Lowkey says "Free Mason" is a song about a mutual friend the guys have that's locked up. That's cool, but we all know what they're feeding into here haha, rightfully so. Second, I think there's a real sentiment with such a short and powerful tracklisting is that Ross is going for a classic album here. You already top 3 'round these parts baby.

T.Shirt's iPhone 4 Review

If you've had an iPhone before, and you expect to be wowed outta this world for the new 4, you'll be disappointed. That's not the way to go into thinking about these products. I've had the glass beauty for a little over a day now and it really is just a pleasure to use. I can't think of a better way to put it. Doing normal things like texting or playing on Twitter, or writing rap songs in the note section have all been made more exciting by the new font and definition of the screen. Face time is super fun when you get it to work (whattup AMK?). The camera is awesome, the flash, the upped quality etc. I admit, some of the nicest changes to the device are in the updated software. Multi-tasking makes my life easier for sure. All my new mail in one inbox? Fucking great. Last but not least, whether you use the new features or not, Apple made it so just holding the damn thing in your hand is a bit of an event. Stop being a crazy person and get you some.

*photo taken with the new iPhone 4

Drake x Jimmy Kimmel "Tweet, Tweet"

It was for sure Drake week on TV these last few days haha. That's the selling records burn they give you when you do good. From a pretty incredible documentary on MTV, to Jay Leno and Kimmel appearances, it seemed the kid was everywhere you looked. Up top is one of the best moments in my opinion. It's pretty hilarious actually. Reminds me a lot of where Justin Timberlake goes when he does the Saturday Night Live thing. Star shit definitely.

Levi's Boyfriend Collection Campaign

Levi's always has great art direction.  I personally liked the last series a whole lot more but this is pretty cool, too. Photography by Sesse Lind.

Rick Ross "Teflon Don" Promo Poster

Ricky Mothafuckin' Ross baby. Absolutely one of the most anticipated albums of the year drops July 20th and the promotion continues on. Looks like the huge street bangers, B.M.F. and MC Hammer off that Albert Anastasia Mixtape will be included on the album. Interesting move.

Honolulu Hawaii, August 14th, 1945

Before 'Ye got there for sure haha. God I love old 16mm film. Such nostalgia and life captured here. Truly some Ice Cube "Today was a good day" type shit. It's so crazy to think how many people just like us already lived this life, these struggles, and these summers. Makes you wanna just have your fun and be a part of it all..

Vans Syndicate Zero Lo By Luke Meier

Vans continue to kill it. Luke Meier, designer of Supreme NYC, got together with the sneaker giant to produce a highly detailed “street and luxury” look I find pretty fucking cool. They come in a nifty carrying bag and have 3 color lace options.

*New Video* N.E.R.D. - Hot N' Fun

Been waiting for the guys to drop a nice hi-res of this on Vimeo or something but it doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon. I feel like it's definitely a video worth seeing in all of it's HD glory but I'm not so sure about the concept. A little too outlandish for me maybe. Still, the creativity is respected. New N.E.R.D. album July 6th.

Rick Ross x Kanye West In The Studio

Complex Magazine Previews Curren$y's "Pilot Talk" Album

The Complex guys have been on there shit as of late. From what I hear there's a couple of pretty big covers coming, too. Anyway, they attended the official DD172 x Pilot Talk Listening Party the other night and previewed just about every track on the highly anticipated new album which as Complex says, "is for stoners who roll doobies on top of their MacBooks" hahaha. Seriously though, it sounds like they just might have the same problem I'm having with this intense weed movement right now. I'm good actually. We get high a bunch around here but I'm not trying to make that shit what I'm about. I could give a shit about drugs to be honest. Oh, and the Roc-A-Fella deal fell through. Def Jam it is.

Real New York shit, the nineties to be exact. Clarks Originals introduces a brand-new take on the forever classic Wallabee. Fuck it man, I'm kinda into these for Fall. With some low-slung khakis? Whaaat? Haha, awesome.

Super Leather Wrapped Flattop Shades Autumn 2010

Yeah yeah, humble this , humble that. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I didn't come up with this first haha. A couple years ago I wrapped matte black leather around a $10 pair of wayfarers. I did, it's the truth. The only thing is umm, they didn't look as good as these haha. The ZEISS lens based Italo made frames are now available in a full 3 shades of leather to choose from. I see you Super.

New Radiohead Album Dropping End Of 2010

A couple years ago the guys blessed us with, what in my opinion was one of, if not, the best album of their long careers. That musiic got serious burn in my life and still does. To hear the boys are just about to complete their next opus, well that's truly exciting. Radiohead make me wanna completely forgo this rap shit and light my hair on fire. Guitarist Ed O’Brien had this to say, "We’re in the heart of the record. It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been. Ideally, it would be great if [the album] came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you’re making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it’s in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there… it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks.”

30 Rock Episode 22 - "I Do Do"

I've been wanting to post this up for the last few days and haven't got around to it yet. If you like the show or not, it's seriously a fucking hilarious episode. One of, if not the only show we watch religiously around here, that is until Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Bored To Death come back of course. Stop thinking about all that rap shit for a little while, make some dinner and laugh well tonight.

*The Birth Of DIDDYBLOG*

Puff's been talking about starting a blog for some time now and I think it's pretty wise of him and his team to do it devoid of any promos. For someone like Diddy, this is a big deal. *New Video* Who Dat - J.Cole (Directed By BB Gun)

One of my first real cool experiences in this blogging game came from a newly signed J.Cole one morning. I had got a hold of his joint "Lights Please" while it still wasn't available anywhere else and I posted it up, praising it, praising my man. The next morning I  woke up to a few direct messages from the kid Cole thanking me for the support and asking me to take the song down because it wasn't finished and not supposed to be out. Of course I respected him and took it down (you can still check that post here.) My point is I've been riding with Cole for a minute now and it's great to see him continuously exceed expectations. All that being said, I'm a little disappointed in his first big video look from the very-talented BB Gun boys. Just a little while ago Dred told me they used 35mm film, and then the trailer was really dope and blah, blah, blah. It's now here in all it's glory and it's not all that. Is it just me or is it pretty much the exact same video they did a couple years ago for Cole's mixtape record?

*It's a little better now in HD.

Larry David Interview With Dazed Digital

Larry David is somewhat of an illrapper legend, I must say. My dream is to have him write songs for me and confess to mainstream media that I'm his best friend. Or, we just really fucking enjoy his HBO series (coming back in a new season by the way). Here, he sits with the guys from Dazed Digital and ansnwers a bunch of questions we've pretty much all wanted to ask. I swear to you, Curb Your Enthusiasm is one hell of a show.

Where do you come up with the ideas?
I don’t know I just… I’ll look at my daughter’s doll, and think to myself, this doll could use a haircut. And if I did cut the hair, what would happen? Oh boy, my daughter would be really upset. And I can see that could be really funny.

Happy Father's Day

Shout out to my greek Pop for getting it innn and trying to make it work with my crazy Momma although the both ultimately failed at marriage. He's still around and has been throughout my life, just maybe not as much as he should have been. Still, whenever I wanna think about it maturely, I think about it like this, way before the guy became a Dad, he was just  man trying his best to win at life. Way before the guy became a Dad, he was just a man. I just try and always keep that in mind. When life gets extremely hard in every way imaginable, does having 3 grown sons who hardly call make things any better? Probably not. I'm not mad at my Dad. Now I just wanna help make things better for him.

The Roots ft. Jim James - Dear God 2.0 (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

IMO, as far as things good for Hip-Hop, this is up there with Jay-Z playing at the World Series and City Hall and shit like that. This is an incredible performance by everybody involved. Black Thought is intelligent and thoughtful, and his mic game is on point. The band and Jim James are all awesome. Very proud.

New Creed Cologne Debut "Aventus" (insert "Calm Down" here)

"Olivier CREED, sixth-generation master perfumer of France, presents Aventus, a new fragrance for men that honors traits of virility, power, strength and vision, inspired by Napoleon, the man who crowned himself emperor of France and all Europe, a self-made king who waged war, peace and love on terms he set.."

Yeah, yeah, yeah, tell em what they really wanna know Oliver. Tell 'em they're gonna need new shoes walking around that much more of a man. Tell 'em they're gonna need therapy for all those hearts they learn to break. Tell 'em the world's not ready for a man to smell that fucking good, tell 'em it's gotta be bad for the environment or the ozone layer or some shit. Tell 'em Ralph Lauren colognes smell like dead rat-trap rats compared to a man in CREED. Tell them, cause I already know.

"Aventus debuts in America before all other countries, a CREED rarity. Part of all proceeds from U.S. sales will benefit American Rivers, protecting U.S. waterways from harm."

Cudi has a wild song right here. The first single from Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager, due September 14th. A very interesting, sort of intense record from the kid. Missoni x Chuck Taylor Preview Fall/Winter 2010

Man, these are just awesome. I'm pretty sure I was just talking to AMK about something Missoni recently. I think she bought towels or something, can't remember. They have great fucking patterns man. So, once again the Italian contemporary brand customizes some Chuck Taylor All Stars. The leather on the tongue just do it for me for real. We'll get some more info as it comes our way.
