*New Video* 24 Frames (Movie Night) - T.Shirt

Just in time for the Oscars.

Kid raps a song using over 120 film titles, shoots a one-shot through a historic movie theatre downtown, NYC. Directed by Dred and Ronin of HotMop Films. The clip stars rapper T.Shirt, and model Klazina Crawford, with various cameos by artists and producers such as Darvin Silva, twin rockband The Astor Kings, jewelry designer Osa, of Complete Technique, and conceptual street artists, URNEWYORK, to name a few.

Huge shout to everybody that came out to support. After a year of talking shit, 30+ people, 6 hours, 20 takes and a big-ass favor, we went in and got 'err done. Special thank you to Ayes and K, Lana, Connie, Andyboy and Chris Daddy, Amay, Gift, Sav, Eugene, Eric, Tah, Johan, John Anthony, Joe and Nahg.

*24 Frames (Movie Night) was produced by Bird & The Bee and can be found on last year's Tan-Face Children EP by T.Shirt and Darvin Silva. If you don't have it, grab the full project here or Shirt's bandcamp for the individual tracks.

Wiz Khalifa - Rolling Papers (Album Cover)

Rarely do I post artwork for covers, but I'm happy for the kid. Support the official debut efforts of a young creative, March 29th.

24 Hours...

Method Man x Media Gasface Where I'm From (Episode 3)

This is really dope if you care. Meth goes in on stories of when he was coming up. As a kid, in the Wu etc. He takes you there and I think it's ill you get to really see the brother talk. It's unique and the stuff of Hip-Hop legend. Like I said though, you gotta care.

*Gotta thank Media Gasface for giving us such an original series. Urban content you can really sink your teeth into. Before Method Man, they did one for legendary art designer Brent Rollins (Do The Right Thing), and graf writer, co-founder of ego trip magazine, Sacha Jenkins.

*New J.Cole Music* Nothing Like It (Freestyle)

Probably the best 2 verses I heard from this kid, ever. And they're crazy! Whoa. New Cole.

StyleCaster's 50 Most Stylish New Yorkers

Love shit like this. Working all over the Downtown area for years at the bars, clothing stores and coffee-shops, I've been lucky enough to be put on to great style first-hand. I always say at the end of the day none of it means anything when you compare it to the crazy things happening in the world, but if you have your priorities in check, getting dressed cool is definitely a nice addition to life. My man, Chris Taylor, from Grizzly Bear made the cut, too. Sweeeeeeet.

Here's what StyleCaster had to say about their project:

New York City is a, if not, the, fashion capital of the world. An amalgamation of high fashion, retro appreciation, individual style and more than a little personality epitomizes a city that lives and breathes fashion – even by proxy, sometimes serendipitously, almost always uniquely. We've gathered 50 New Yorkers from editorial, retail, beauty, music and beyond who exemplify the reality of our New York – to bring you New York's 50 Most Stylish. – Kerry Pieri

*I'd suggest reading the individual Q&A's as well, great stuff. Thanks to Will Yan for the heads up.

*New Video* I Need A Doctor - Dr. Dre feat. Eminem & Skylar Grey

Much better video than I expected it to be. Dre reflects on his life and career something special. Actually got goosebumps. I know, I'm cheesy.

*Both Dre and Em sit down real quick with Extra to talk about the video as well as their professional/personal friendship here.

Nike Air Max 90 Premium QS “CBF” Ostrich

Really great. Never been too much a fan of Air Max but I love the solid black. Skip the bullshit and focus on the quality of a timeless model. In collaboration with the Brazilian Football Federation, Nike NSW reworked their original silhouette combining a leather and mesh upper with ostrich skin paneling and a CBF heel counter. Solid, for $140.

*New Video* While I Shovel The Snow - The Walkmen

Gorgeous winter visual set in my city by art photographer Jake Davis. He says his biggest inspiration was the classic New York City souvenir postcards and my man hit it right on the money. Every single shot is picture-worthy. The song isn't my particular cup of tea but it sets the mood nice. More on the shoot here.

*New Video* God Forgives, I Don't (Blog #1) - Rick Ross x DJ Toomp

This is not such a great vlog but I'm still excited as fuck for the project. Toomp is a beast and Ross is just in a zone right now. Should be a real serious album. God Forgives, I Don’t coming Summertime.

New Apple MacBooks Announced

New MacBooks! Not gonna even attempt to give you the official specs in my own language. Just the fact that the thing is twice as fast as before and has a new port that uses something called Thunderbolt technology. So crazy. Head over to Apple now for a full overview here.

Wild Orchid Spring 2011 Campaign

Sort of an interesting set of photos by photographer Steven Lyon. Intense lighting and set designs galore. I honestly just wish Shorty had a better face.

*New Music* Will Do - TV On The Radio

Love these guys. I worked with a couple of them some years ago at a coffee shop in Brooklyn and they were always the most humble, cool and talented cats. I remember they were on the cover of Spin and still making lattes for weirdos on Bedford Ave. Interesting enough, I just ran into Kip and Tunde in Dumbo maybe 5 days ago. Kip's cool as fuck and is always asking how the music is going and what not. Sincere dude. I might even take the new record for a spin and see happens, we'll see. The guys' new album "Nine Kinds of Light", drops April 12th.

*New Music* Molasses - Raekwon feat. Rick Ross & Ghostface Killah

Your wording is everything in great rap. These 3 are a few of the best to ever do it. From old to new. Besides that, I love the way the record is mixed. Vocals are good and warm. Off Rae’s new LP, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, dropping March 8th.

*New Video* Mornin' - Star Slinger

Visuals like this are pretty special. Song is kind of interesting, too, with the various samples throughout. Directed by Alan Jensen (Ghostclatter) and gets hippie as fuck halfway in. Get Star Slinger's album here.

Props to Highsnobiety

*New Video* Hustle Hard (Remix) - Young Jeezy

G-shit I guess. Dope verse and look from the nigga Jeezy trying to get his buzz back. Directed by Decator Dan.

Feeling the recent JR work in LA. Multiple large scale walls of the black/white wrinkled faces he's known for. Really, really interesting stuff.

Obviously I'm feeling some of these guys more than others. Still I think they all deserve it. Discuss.

Rihanna's 2011 NBA All-Star Performance Featuring Drake, Kanye West

Something had to have been wrong with the mics. I wonder how the whole thing sounded if you were in the building. Dah well. The full performance includes Drake coming out for "What's My Name" and Kanye dropping in for an extremely toned down version of "All Of The Lights", glittery red pants and all.

What's The Deal With Keenan Cahill?

Pretty enamored by this kid. We all are over here. Must be one of the coolest, most down to earth sonavabitches around and I wish him the best and longest life possible.

Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor 2011 Spring/Summer Collection

There's something pretty special about these. Don't get me wrong, I love a solid pair of$30 Navy Blues, but when you wanna step it up, go to a barbeque or something, you might wanna try these. Converse launches the third, limited collection of Missoni for Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes for men and women. Iconic striped-patterns and vibrant multi-colored knits doing that good shit Missoni is known for worldwide.

Each shoe will be available in limited quantities beginning in March at Missoni boutiques (New York and Beverly Hills), Aloha Rag (New York), Canvas (Malibu) & Jeffrey’s (New York and Atlanta), and also at select retailers globally at $200 USD. Hypebeast has a couple different styles and angles.

Executive Steve Stoute Writes An Open Letter To The Grammy's In Sunday NY Times

Tell Stoute to holla at me, maaaan.
Advertising-Guru, Music-Executive and friend of Hip-Hop culture, Steve's been doing his thing in this business for some time now and is well respected. Today, in Sunday’s Style section of the New York Times he published an open letter to the Grammy's addressing some of their questionable choices over the years. I'm not sure I agree completely with some of the points expressed. It's tricky. To be honest, I think screen-time between all the musical genres was fairly shared. I don't think something as old and traditional as the Grammy stage should be swept up in popular culture and focus solely on records sales or tour earnings. I just don't. I love that the Best New Artist award can go to an almost unknown act. My bad. Justin Beiber may have been the biggest new artist, Drake may have been the crowd favorite, but maybe Esperanza Spalding was actually the best thing to hit the scene in a while. Anyway, that's just one of my specific gripes. The famous executive thinks differently and he's speaking out. Clap for him.

"Over the course of my 20-year history as an executive in the music business and as the owner of a firm that specializes in in-culture advertising, I have come to the conclusion that the Grammy Awards have clearly lost touch with contemporary popular culture. My being a music fan has left me with an even greater and deeper sense of dismay — so much so that I feel compelled to write this letter. Where I think that the Grammys fail stems from two key sources: (1) over-zealousness to produce a popular show that is at odds with its own system of voting and (2) fundamental disrespect of cultural shifts as being viable and artistic.
As an institution that celebrates artistic works of musicians, singers, songwriters, producers and technical specialists, we have come to expect that the Grammys upholds all of the values that reflect the very best in music that is born from our culture. Unfortunately, the awards show has become a series of hypocrisies and contradictions, leaving me to question why any contemporary popular artist would even participate. How is it possible that in 2001 The Marshall Mathers LP — an album by Eminem that ushered in the Bob Dylan of our time — was beaten out by Steely Dan (no disrespect) for Album Of The Year? While we cannot solely utilize album sales as the barometer, this was certainly not the case. Not only is Eminem the best-selling artist of the last decade, but The Marshall Mathers LP was a critical and commercial success that sold over 10 million albums in the United States (19 million worldwide), while Steely Dan sold less than 10% of that amount and came and went as quietly as a church mouse. Or consider even that in 2008 at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, after going into the night as the most-nominated artist, Kanye West’s Graduation was beaten out for Album Of The Year by Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters. (This was the first time in 43 years that a jazz album won this category.) While there is no doubt in my mind of the artistic talents of Steely Dan or Herbie Hancock, we must acknowledge the massive cultural impact of Eminem and Kanye West and how their music is shaping, influencing and defining the voice of a generation. It is this same cultural impact that acknowledged the commercial and critical success of Michael Jackson’s Thriller in 1984.
Just so that I’m not showing partiality to hip-hop artists (although it would be an entirely different letter as to how hip-hop music has been totally diminished as an art form by this organization), how is it that Justin Bieber, an artist that defines what it means to be a modern artist, did not win Best New Artist? Again, his cultural impact and success are even more quantifiable if you factor in his YouTube and Vevo viewership — the fact that he was a talent born entirely of the digital age whose story was crafted in the most humble method of being “discovered” purely for his singing ability (and it should be noted that Justin Bieber plays piano and guitar, as evidenced on his early viral videos).
So while these very artists that the public acknowledges as being worthy of their money and fandom are snubbed year after year at the Grammys, the awards show has absolutely no qualms in inviting these same artists to perform. At first I thought that you were not paying attention to the fact that the mental complexion of the world is becoming tanned, that multiculturalism and poly-ethnicity are driving new meaning as to what is culturally relevant. Interesting that the Grammys understands cultural relevance when it comes to using Eminem’s, Kanye West’s or Justin Bieber’s name in the billing to ensure viewership and to deliver the all-too-important ratings for its advertisers.
What truly inspired the writing of this letter was that this most recent show fed my suspicions. As the show was coming to a close and just prior to presenting the award for Album Of The Year, the band Arcade Fire performed “Month of May” — only to… surprise… win the category and, in a moment of sheer coincidence, happened to be prepared to perform “Ready to Start.”
Does the Grammys intentionally use artists for their celebrity, popularity and cultural appeal when they already know the winners and then program a show against this expectation? Meanwhile the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences hides behind the “peer” voting system to escape culpability for not even rethinking its approach.
And I imagine that next year there will be another televised super-close-up of an astonished front-runner as they come to the realization before a national audience… that he or she was used.
You are being called to task at this very moment, NARAS.
And to all of the artists that attend the Grammys: Stop accepting the invitation to be the upset of the year and demand that this body upholds its mission for advocacy and support of artistry as culture evolves.
Demand that they change this system and truly reflect and truly acknowledge your art."

Irina Shayk For Sports Illustrated 2011 Swimsuit Issue

Get over to newsstands and support print. Last week it was announced on the Dave Letterman show that Irina Shayk was chosen to grace the cover of the new Swimsuit issue of SI. Up top, that's the last page of the magazine. There's a few other photos you can check out here but I suggest owning the damn thing.

*New, Official Video* All Of The Lights (Directed by Hype Williams)

Expected more? Me too I guess. At least would have been nice for the all star cast from the record to be featured in the video. Oh well. Still kind of dope. And Rihanna is naked so that's cool.

Interestingly, the entire beginning different color words and lights thing was taken from this popular "Enter The Void" opening sequence. Also looks like Kanye will be performing the single with Rihanna during tomorrow's NBA All-Star Game.

*New Music* Jadakiss - I Miss You (New Website SoRaspy.com + New Mixtape)

Kiss sounds invigorated and ill. No need to recreate a post here, for the full and up to date rundown go here.

*New Video* Hold It Against Me - Britney Spears

I guess this isn't terrible. Def not the Britney we wanted to see naked in high-school. The breakdown midway in wasn't bad. Also figure it'd be a good chance to put up the remix T.Shirt dropped a few weeks ago.

Producer Lex Luger Speaks To Complex About Working With Kanye West

I've been sleeping on listening to this kid talk to Complex. It's pretty interesting insight into how Kanye works, and works with other dudes.

"In New York, when I walked in [the studio] Kanye was playing a bunch of Jimi Hendrix records. Playing them real loud off a record—it wasn’t a CD or something off of the Internet. So he came in there, and he had listened to three good records, and he told me, ‘I know you’re wondering why I’m doing this. It’s studying music.’ Back then, a story was told in [the music]. From the instruments to the words to the song, because you could listen to a whole instrumental back then and be satisfied. So he said that’s where he wanted to take his music. I just took that and I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to do that too.’ Because music ain’t supposed to be repetitive, with the same thing over and over. What Kanye does is try to push it to the limit. That’s what I really learned from him: Don’t get stuck in the same sound or the same style. Always keep going, and keep something new.”

*New Short* The Legendary (A Film About The Roots)

Must watch this later on. Crispy Roots shit. Synopsis below:

During the latter part of 2010 Jeff Baraka and I had the opportunity to cover a number of concerts on the Hennessey Artistry Tour with the Legendary Roots Crew. I have always been a huge fan of the music created by the best band to ever grace the Hip-Hop genre. In this film I wanted to not only highlight the versatility of a group that has played with most everyone in the industry. But also capture candid moments of real human beings just trying to share the gifts they have been given to the best of their abilities.

In addition to the Hennessey Tour, we got an chance to sit down with drummer ?uestlove at the House of Blues in Chicago as the Roots gave the audience a glimpse of why they are considered by many the hardest working band in show biz. All and all the Roots have proven time again that they are indeed Legendary.

Strike Gently Interview With The Daily'er Nebraskan

If you know, you no. I love this guy/girl/Watson computer. Nobody knows who or what Strike Gently is but a lot of people enjoy them for all their porn/NBC hit show/latenight interview rips and antics. I have no recollection of discovering them but since I did, 100% of my content comes from them 3% of the time. That's math. I want illrapper to be StrikeGently when it grows up. That's nowhere near the truth but I'm into them. There's a good chance you won't share my admiration. A few weeks ago, ICE, who Hip-Hop literati should know as the guys who took down the beloved Onsmash.com, amongst others, seized StrikeGently.com for oh, about a day. Within 24 hours they emerged with a better layout, better design and stronger links than before. Pretty wild. An online publication called The Daily'er Nebraskan just interviewed them about it for the 2nd time this year. Riveting stuff. Care.

Serious video. Not the biggest fan of the song but I understand the look is crazy. Plus, Bun is my favorite. Can't believe Yela is shady now. Soooo crazy exciting.

*New Music* E.T. - Katy Perry Feat. Kanye West

Thought this was gonna be corny but it's not bad. 'Ye verses are pretty stellar actually. There's a video coming and everything. At least that's what they say. You know how videos from Kanye can be of legend (cough, Monster, cough cough, All Of The Lights).

Pusha T Talks "My God", Working With Kanye, To Complex Magazine

The man Insanul Ahmed over at Complex got Pusha on the phone out in LA for Grammy weekend. Things got hot for Kanye's new right-hand man in the last couple days with the emergence of his first official single from his new mixtape, My God. I never got to put the mastered version up so get it below.

“The album is a whole other monster. That’s something that me and Ye have been working on. I’d like to say we’ve got a good five records. I don’t know how many we’re going to go for in total, but we’ve got five down, and we definitely have some more to go. We’re just going to create until we feel the project is a well-rounded one. This is my dream. [Kanye will be executive producing] and it has a lot to do with his creative vision, and what he sees for me, and it’s been coming out amazing. I’m personally hoping for a late summer release. That’s my goal.”

Actually tried to watch this on Sunday night and it got lost in the shuffle somehow. I love how absolutely normal and down to earth she is compared to the super loud persona. Girls from New York over anywhere in the world.

Radiohead Releasing New Album, King Of Limbs, This Saturday

Is it just me that's out of the loop here or did Radiohead just pop up with this pretty huge news out of nowhere? Much like their last incredible outing, one of the illest bands in the world direct you to their own website to purchase their new album, King Of Limbs. While last time was a name-your-own price type of deal (I paid $7), this time they offer a couple different options, depending on how big a fan you are, and how much you love large formatted artwork. Either way, they're releasing the whole thing digitally this Saturday, February 19th with physical copies shipping Monday, May 9th. So crazy. Is there even a single out?

*New Music* My God - Pusha T (Produced by Hit-Boy) [Official, No Tags]

Flex premiered this all bombed the fuck up earlier, but I might be the first out here with a good tag-less version for once. This shit is disgusting. So good. The beat is produced by newcomer Hit-Boy whose been making waves recently, traveling to Abu Dhabi working with the G.O.O.D music boys. If you remember, he's the kid who produced the Christmas In Harlem joint from a couple months back. Hasn't been confirmed yet but it looks like this is the first single off Pusha's highly-anticipated, 'Ye-laced debut, Fear Of God. Oh shit, this nigga might end up being one of the best.

GQ Magazine's 10 Essentials: Alexander Wang

Being that it's all New York City fashion week and all, I figured I'd give you the obligatory Alexander Wang post, with a twist. The boy is seriously one of the illest on the scene right now and recently spoke to GQ about the things in his life that make him tick. Cool shit.

If you're as talented and dedicated as Alexander Wang—as in, you were designing your first collection your sophomore year of college and won a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award at the age of 24—it's probably good to keep the rest of your habits precisely no-fuss. "I don't want to say I'm locked down," says Wang, of living and working in Chinatown, "but it's easy, it's convenient, and it has the food I love." That might sound at odds with his wild creativity, but it's more a product of his focused attitude. The man knows what he likes: loose and easy looks with the perfect balance of disheveled refinement. He made a name for himself with his anti-fitted womenswear and the past year he's brought the same sensibility to his sharply casual men's line of slouchy tees and hoodies. Here he shows us what keeps his finely-tuned routine in check.

10 Essentials: Alexander Wang

*New* X-Men: First Class (Official HD Trailer)

Saw this for the first time earlier tonight on Darvin's big flat screen in the Blue Room. Geek shit. So ill. We do this thing for the last 10 years where we go to the movie theatre on opening night at 12am to see certain flicks. This will be no different.

*New Music* Complex Mind of Paul Pierce - Maffew Ragazino

This kid tried to play me a couple months ago but I'm over it. Out of most street MC's I hear, Maffew might be the nicest. Truly reminds me of some Brooklyn shit in the 90's hence why I'm sure all these Brooklyn guys from the 90's cosign him. It's gonna be interesting to see how he makes any money nowadays. John Leguizamo still making gritty cop dramas?

*Applaud the Joe La Puma reference and the artwork idea but it could've been done so much better right, Reno?

Lanvin Ad 2011

Forgot where I got this but it's perfect. I think it was on the Barney's website or something. It's just perfect for so many reasons.
