Dream Hampton Speaks On Jay-Z's Book Decoded

My friend Amk got me Decoded for Christmas and though I haven't had the chance to really eat through it yet, flipping through and reading a bit here and there I gotta say it's far more interesting than I ever expected. I damn near panned it when I first heard it was coming out. As a person whose been listening and understanding Jay-Z music for the last 10 years I didn't think there was anything this "book for white people" could teach me about my favorite rapper. I was an idiot. It's so much more than a book about some guys lyrics. There's an amazing backstory that feels like it's almost been forgotten this whole time, all these years. I share so much of the mans feelings regarding Hip-Hop and the youth its raised, this book is a nothing short of a gem. Life-changing. In the clip above, author Dream Hampton speaks on her involvement bringing the project to life.
